A breathalyzer test showed Peter Vilfan was just above the legal limit at the time of the accident, but the result was not upheld by a blood test.

Peter Vilfan confirmed the news for Dnevnik on Tuesday, but he said he did not regret stepping down since he should not have been driving after drinking in any case.

Vilfan was elected to parliament on the Positive Slovenia ticket, but left the PS deputy group to join a grouping associated with outgoing PM Alenka BratuĊĦek after the 25 April party congress.

He was succeeded in parliament by Alenka Lampe, who has joined the PS deputy group.
