The left-leaning forces have been hit by extensive fragmentation, with newcomer the I Believe list headed by former Court of Audit president Igor Ĺ oltes faring the best with 10.5% of the vote for one seat.

The Pensioners' Party (DeSUS) finished fourth with 8.16% and the Social Democrats (SD) fifth with 8.05%. They picked up the remaining two seats in the European Parliament from Slovenia, according to the data from the National Electoral Commission.

The Positive Slovenia (PS), which was the senior coalition partner until the recent split in parliament, took 6.62% to miss out on a term.

Newcomers the United Left, featuring three leftist groups, won 5.48%, while the list of MEP Jelko Kacin took 4.86%. The only other party to garner more than 4% was the National Party (SNS).

The final turnout was at 24.08%, the lowest to date in elections in Slovenia.

The incomplete results will be expanded on Monday with votes cast by post and on 2 June with votes from abroad, but these are not expected to have a major impact on the outcome.
