Vogrin explained for the press late in the evening that he only got the signature of Borut Ambrožič, another unaffiliated MP.

He had been claiming before that he had promises by a sufficient number of MPs they would sign the motion and mentioned yesterday unaffiliated MP Ivan Simič, and Positive Slovenia (PS) deputies Matjaž Zanoškar, Alojzij Potočnik, Tina Komel, Lejla Hercegovac, Stanko Stepišnik, Branko Ficko, Jože Velikonja and Saša Kos.

Deputy groups had been saying all along they were averse to Vogrin's proposal, arguing that the idea was not serious, that early elections are needed as soon as possible and most did not even want to meet with Radonjič.

A snap election, coming after the resignation of PM Alenka Bratušek after a rift in the ruling PS, could already be held on 13 July.

Parties have already stepped up preparations, while unofficially some are also counting on the vote being delayed until after the summer holidays as a result of an announced challenge of the summer date.
