The musical will open on 17 September as a part of the Ljubljana Festival and will be repeated four times, from 18 to 21 September.

The story in Blossoms in Autumn is about an older lawyer Janez from Ljubljana who pays a visit to his relative in a highland village where he falls in love with his daughter Meta.

After a few serene days spent on the farm, filled with pleasant labour and walks together with Meta in the unspoilt surroundings, he has to return to Ljubljana but he soon returns to ask Meta to marry him.

The musical is being made by an interesting team of Slovenian artists, both young and those with more experience. The author of the music is Matjaž Vlašič, according to its producer Miša Stanko Lukašev, who feels there are not enough "West End" musicals in Slovenia.

Blossoms in Autumn has a very deep meaning, it is about love, emotions, hopes and national consciousness. It is these strong emotions that make the story so hard to understand nowadays, emphasized musical director Vojko Anzeljc.

Vlašič, who has written many Slovenian pop songs, said he felt great responsibility when accepting the role of the musical composer. He said he had added 15 songs of his own to the ones featured in the 1973 film.

The role of Meta went to pop singer Nina Pušlar and actress Maja Martina Merljak, while Janez will be played by baritones Matjaž Robavs and Domen Križaj. The participating artists said they strongly believed in the musical's genius story and incredible music.

The musical will be based mostly on acting and singing, dancing will only be a fun addition.
