The investor, Soške elektrarne Nova Gorica, replaced the turbine and accessory systems as well as the generator with the entire equipment, according to a press release from the Infrastructure and Spatial Planning Ministry.

Four more plants on the Soča River are currently operational - Doblar 2, Plave 1, Plave 2 and Solkan. Plave 1 is the second oldest plant on the river, launched in 1940.

According to the ministry, the overhaul of Doblar 1 will not result in a greater output, but will increase efficiency.

According to Soške elektrarne director Vladimir Gabrijelčič, Plave 1 is also slated for overhaul, with one of the generators expected to be replaced in 2015.
