Slovenian Expatriates Meeting for Traditional Pilgrimage
Together with Slovenian diaspora priests, Slovenian Bishop of Celje Stanislav Lipovšek will celebrate mass to an expected several thousand participants.
The traditional pilgrimage to Svete Višarje, as Monte Santo di Lussari is called in Slovenian, is organised by Rafaelova družba, an organisation promoting Slovenian and Catholic values among Slovenian expatriates, and the Government Office for Slovenians Abroad.
While the pilgrimage is primarily a religious event, a number of lectures are held as part of it and being a meeting point for Slovenians from Slovenia and elsewhere has earned it a broader cultural meaning.
Youth Days for the young to learn about Slovenia and its culture have already been held as part of the traditional get-together.
