Bombastic Shaggy to Headline Sotočje Reggae Festival


Apart from the Jamaican-American superstar Shaggy, best known for his hits Oh Carolina, Boombastic, It Wasn't Me and Angel, and British musician Macka B, a regular on the Slovenian concert scene, Sotočje will also welcome Chronixx from Jamaica, the hottest name on the list of reggae festivals the world over.

Another first appearance in Slovenia will be the French socially critical French band Dub Inc and The Skints from London, while Zion Train, who also come from Britian, have already performed in Tolmin at the Soča Reggae Riversplash festival, the predecessor to Overjam.

The main stage will also feature Luciano, considered one of the most important Jamaican musicians. A series of DJs, dub selectors and sound systems will see to a wide selection of sub-genres of reggae music, with a special section dedicated to musicians from Slovenia and other parts of the former Yugoslavia.

The visitors will be able to camp on the site as well as join in a series of activities, while they will be also able to learn about the local associations their work and crafts.

The first visitors already turned up for the pre-party night on Tuesday featuring six DJ teams from Slovenia and neighbouring countries. Nevertheless, the organizers are apprehensive about the unfavourable weather conditions. They say that last year's edition attracted around 8,000 visitors.
