Trstenjak took third place together with Miku Tashiro of Japan through repechage, beating Martyna Trajdos of Germany and Anne-Laure Bellard of France in the bronze medal match.

In the competition of 41 judokas, the Slovenian beat two opponents before falling in the quarter-finals to Yarden Gerbin of Izrael, who won the silver medal. The gold went to Clarisse Agbegnenou of France.

The next appearance for Slovenia comes on Friday, when Ana Velenšek will compete in the women's 78kg category.
