Fighting in front of a capacity crowd at Maribor's Tabor Hall, Zavec dominated the Hungarian throughout the match to improve his professional record to 34 wins (18 with KO) and 3 defeats.

Zavec is hoping the match will allow him to return to the top league of world boxing, where he used to be among the top boxers in the welterweight category.

In 2011 he had to concede his International Boxing Federation (IBF) title to Andre Berto, after the fight was stopped in the fifth round due to a cut above Zavec's right eye.

He later faced Bethuel Uushona of Namibia in Maribor on 24 March 2012, winning that by unanimous decision to take the WBO intercontinental welterweight title, before undergoing an operation on his right elbow to clear loose cartilage in late May 2012.
