Maribor Municipality Stepping In to Save Pohorje Skiing Season

Maribor Mayor Andrej Fištravec said that the city-owned bus company Marprom and ŠC Pohorje receiver Drago Dubrovski signed an agreement today enabling Marprom to start the annual servicing of the ski lifts.

The licence to operate the lifts will be transferred onto Marprom once the plan gets the green light from legal experts, which is expected early next week.

Fištravec said that the annual servicing on the gondola has already begun, while the works on the remaining ski lifts would start on Monday.

The municipalities decided to try and save the winter season on the slopes of Pohorje, which traditionally also hosts a competition of the Women's Alpine Skiing World Cup, after the company ended up in bankruptcy and nobody expressed the interest to take over management of the ski lifts.
