During the winter season Marprom will operate the ski lifts on the Pohorje, maintain the slopes, and manage the relates services, according to the deal made public on the website of the Agency for Public Legal Records (AJPES) on Friday.

ŠC Pohorje bankruptcy administrator Drago Dubrovski has said that this is a temporary solution that will allow the ski resort to remain operational this winter.

Marprom is meanwhile gearing up for the winter season in Pohorje and, according to its director, the company has enough money to launch the season.

The Maribor-based daily Večer reported this week that the entire season will cost the city-owned company EUR 2m. More than two-thirds of the costs is expected to be covered with season tickets.

According to the paper, Marprom will hire between 40 and 80 temporary workers for the winter season.

The Maribor local authorities decided to step in and save the winter season in Pohorje, which traditionally hosts a Women's Alpine Skiing World Cup event, after the operator ended up in bankruptcy and nobody expressed the interest to take over.
