Budget Deficit Exceeds EUR 1.1BN after Ten Months

The budget for this year envisaged a deficit of just over EUR 1bn, but the proposed supplementary budget, to be endorsed in parliament today, expands the deficit by some EUR 200m to EUR 1.2bn or 3.4% of GDP.

In October, budget revenues stood at EUR 777.55m, while expenditure amounted to EUR 886.46m. Tax revenues contributed EUR 588.37m to the state purse, most of which or EUR 481.29m came from value added tax and excise duties.

In the January-October period, revenues reached EUR 6.846bn, while expenditure topped EUR 7.95bn, data of the Finance Ministry show.

The country received EUR 115.46m in EU funds in October, while it contributed EUR 18.74m to the bloc's purse. In the first ten months of the year, it received a total of EUR 677.73m while paying EUR 339.52m.

In the January-October period, Slovenia's debt totalled EUR 6.172bn. By the end of last month the country paid off EUR 3.404bn.
