The Foreign Ministry added Slovenia will continue to closely follow the events in the region and is calling on both Abkhazia and Russia to continue with Geneva talks and to fully implement the 2008 ceasefire agreement.

The ministry said that Georgia is on the right path of reforms which are bringing it ever closer to the EU.

Russia and Abkhazia signed on Monday a strategic partnership agreement, which consolidates Russian domination in the region's foreign policy, defence and economy and envisages the deployment of Russian guards on Abkhazia's administrative border.
