Slovenian Bond Yields at New Record Lows
The decrease was part of a broad trend, as the yields of a number of eurozone members, including Austria, Belgium, Netherlands, France, Spain, Portugal and Ireland, all hit record lows today, Austria's APA news agency reported.
The spread between the Slovenian bonds and the 10-year German bunds, which command the lowest yield in the eurozone, was at 1.59 percentage points.
Yields on eurozone bonds have been falling since European Central Bank (ECB) boss Mario Draghi expressed readiness to further loosen monetary policy last Friday as a means of combating low inflation and boost economic activity.
As part of this, the ECB is seeking to purchase guaranteed bonds of central and commercial banks and other financial instruments secured with assets in order to free up credit.
