"A great end to the season. I am very happy that I remained in first place the entire week. Today's regatta was very demanding because we were in a bay with changeable winds," Žbogar, who finished second today, told the web page of public broadcaster TV Slovenija.

"I knew it would be hard to keep the first place...I would have been disappointed to lose the top spot on the last day, but I remained calm," he added.

The Slovenian was followed in the overall results by reigning world champion, Croatian Ivan Kljaković Gašpič, in second place and Caleb Pine of the US in place three.
