According to a press release by the SDS, Daul welcomed at the outset of the session of the leading EU party the presence of Janša and "briefly outlined the situation that led in Slovenia to the abuse of the judiciary for the elimination of a political rival".

Janša, recently released from prison by the Constitutional Court pending a final decision on his appeal, and Daul meanwhile discussed tete-a-tete "the situation of individual parties, members of the EPP from Slovenia and the EPP's role in the forming of a winning alternative in the next early election in Slovenia"

The EPP summit discussed topical EU issues as well as the situation in some EU member states. Slovenia was in the focus of the last topic, the SDS wrote.
