Shipulin finished the 15-kilometre race in 35:16.8; he missed only one shot. Martine Fourcade of France was second (+1.2s, 1 missed shot), while third place went to Austrian Simon Eder (+1.4s, 1 missed shot).

Shipulin crossed the finish line as first after taking over Fourcade and his compatriot Jean Guillame Beatrix following a dramatic fall by Beatrix shortly before the finish. Beatrix, who was in first place when he fell, ended fifth.

Meanwhile, Pokljuka might host yet another biathlon World Cup this season, as Ruhpolding in Bavaria is facing a shortage of snow and high temperatures.

Tomaž Šušteršič, the head of the Pokljuka organisers, told the STA on Sunday that Pokljuka would take over the Ruhpolding races if the weather conditions there do not improve.
