President Pahor Invites Qatari to Invest in Slovenia
Pahor presented Slovenia as a reliable and attractive investment destination, especially for investments in tourism, transport and infrastructure, a press release from his office said.
The event called "Opportunities in Qatar and Slovenia" featured business officials from both countries. Pahor spoke of the intention to enhance relations between the two countries, especially economic ties.
Slovenia's strategic advantages were presented by State Secretary Aleš Cantarutti from the Ministry of Economic Development and Technology.
Slovenian business officials also had an opportunity for individual presentations of their businesses, products and plans, and for direct contacts with potential partners.
Pahor opened his Qatar visit on Thursday with a meeting with the emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
He also acts as the honorary sponsor of the Slovenian promotional centre in Doha during the World Handball Championships hosted by the country.
Trade between the countries rose from EUR 6.5m in 2013 to EUR 36m last year, with Slovenian exports accounting for only some EUR 6.5m in that, of which around 80% is due to a single deal involving sports equipment for the handball tournament.
