No new measures are expected to be taken regarding the either topic.

The discussion about terrorism will focus on the implementation of the existing measures, in particular the communication strategy against terrorism ideology and the efforts to resolve the crises in Syria, Iraq, Yemen and Lebanon, which are considered the main sources of terrorism.

The foreign ministers will also discuss the relations with Russia and the EU, which have been marred by the Ukraine conflict. The EU is looking to take a more proactive approach, but its policy towards Russia is currently two-sided, with sanctions on one side and efforts towards dialogue and a political solution on the other.

Sanctions against Russia have been in force for a year, and the EU is facing a decision this year whether to extend, upgrade or alleviate them. Much is expected to depend on the situation on the ground.

The session will also include a discussion about the situation in Libya, Syria, Iraq and the Middle East with Arab League Secretary-General Nabil El Araby.

Appointments to be decided on meanwhile include the new special representative of the EU in Bosnia-Herzegovina and the head of the EU delegation in Sarajevo.
