Curated by Aleksander Bassin, a leading Slovenian art critic, the Magic of Art show features more than 110 paintings, prints, sculptures and photographs dating from between 1968 and 2013.

The works come from national and private collections, including from the authors' own collections.

According to Bassin, the management of the Künstlerhaus decided to host the show after seeing it at Villa Manin in Passariano near the Italian city of Udine last spring.

The paintings and most of the sculptures will be displayed in chronological order, while photographs and prints will be showcased separately.

A show within the show will focus on the landscape as the thematic preoccupation of Slovenian painting and photography ever since Slovenian Impressionism at the start of the 20th century.

The opening ceremony will be addressed by Slovenian Culture Minister Julijana Bizjak Mlakar and Slovenian Ambassador to Austria Andrej Rahten.

Running in Vienna until 29 March, the exhibition will then travel on to Croatia's Zagreb, where it will be on show until 9 April.
