He beat German Simon Schempp by 12.8 seconds. Jean Guillaume Beatrix of France was third, 26 seconds adrift.

The top three hit all targets but Fak delivered a supreme running performance to secure his first win since Holmenkollen last year.

The win gives Fak the prime position in Sunday's pursuit race.
