The meetings will focus on the possibilities of cooperation as well as the upcoming EU Council meeting in Brussels.

As Cerar and Bettel debate bilateral cooperation, the Slovenian prime minister will point to a closer cooperation of smaller EU states, his office said in a press release.

The pair will also take the opportunity to discuss the priorities during Luxembourg's presidency of the EU in the second half of 2015.

Cerar is also expected to meet President of the European Court of Justice Vassilios Skouris and President of the European Investment Bank Werner Hoyer.

On Thursday, Cerar will travel to Brussels for an EU summit where heads of state will discuss the EU's response to the Charlie Hebdo terrorist attacks in Paris in January. The summit will also focus on the situation in Ukraine and Greece.
