Fuel Prices Up Despite Excise Cut

Regular unleaded is 5 cents dearer at EUR 1.308 a litre and diesel is also up by as much to EUR 1.22. Premium unleaded costs 5.6 cents more at 1.35.

The price of heating oil is up by 5 cents to EUR 0.872 a litre.

The hike comes despite a decision by the government to reduce excise duties by around 3% to alleviate the effects of a rebound in the price of crude oil and a higher US dollar.

The price increase comes two weeks after fuel prices hit their lowest levels since mid-2011.

Fuel prices in Slovenia are regulated by the government using a model factoring in wholesale prices and the US dollar. They are adjusted fortnightly.
