Today's success comes after he was disqualified in the quarter finals for allegedly running over a pole. However, Flisar complained and was back in the running.

"I skied my best today. I had quite a few problems after the world championships, but everything worked out on the track today. I had some problems when they wanted to disqualify me for no reason but I'm back and all is good," the 27-year-old told the STA.

This is the seventh world cup podium for the Slovenian but the first in over two years. So far in his career, Flisar has logged four victories, two second places and one third place at world cup events.

Slovenia's other cross skier Blaž Ogorevc dropped out in the eighth of the finals.
