BAMC Boss Staying on - for Now

"I might leave of my own accord if the circumstances change and I will not be able to do my job well," Torbjörn Mansson told the online edition of business paper Finance Sunday.

His statement comes after Finance Minister Dušan Mramor told Večer the board of the bad bank would be overhauled - limited to non-executive directors.

Media reports suggest three non-executive board members (who appoint executive members) will be replaced, while Mramor himself confirmed Mansson was asked to stay on.

Mansson said the BAMC was working on getting a board that it independent - not only from politics but from other interest groups that want to affect decision-making.

The board has come under severe pressure over excessive pay and alleged misdeeds in asset management.

Mansson said there was huge pressure on the board, not least through media. However, he insists he has done more than he has been paid for.
