The display also shows Slovenia's contributions to the European space programme, as many solutions have been developed by Slovenian experts and companies. Visitors will be able to listen in on lectures by engineers and scientists.

The head of the European Commission's office in Ljubljana, Nataša Goršek Mencin, said the display showed in a fun and interactive way the benefits of space investments.

The exhibition moreover shows how space technologies benefit the optimisation of traffic, increase efficiency in agriculture, fisheries, environment protection, humanitarian aid and in security.

Silvo Žlebir of the European Commission's Directorate-General for the Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs said investments in the space programme would create jobs and boost economic growth.

It is estimated services provided by satellite navigation will generate 7% of GDP in the EU by the end of the decade, according to Žlebir.

The exhibition has been travelling through Europe since 2012 and has been seen by more than half a million people.
