Armenian Foreign Minister Visiting Slovenia

The visit is aimed at strengthening political dialogue between Slovenia and Armenia, the Slovenian Foreign Ministry said.

It added that "Slovenia would like to revive political dialogue and strengthen economic and cultural cooperation" with Armenia.

The ministers will therefore take stock of bilateral relations and exchange views on topical European and international issues.

They will also review the situation in Armenia, after this country recently joined the Eurasian Economic Union, an area of around 176 million people.

The last visit between the two countries was President Serzh Sargsian's stop in Slovenia in April 2011, when he was accompanied also by Foreign Minister Nalbandian.

The visit came half a year after the then President Danilo Türk paid an official visit to Armenia as the first Slovenian president to do so.

Today, Minister Nalbandian will also meet Speaker of the National Assembly Milan Brglez and State Secretary in the Prime Minister's Office Janez Lenarčič.
