According to the Slovenian Foreign Ministry, the purpose of the visit is to seek stronger cooperation and friendship between the two countries.

Close trade relations are said to be high on the agenda.

Erjavec will be accompanied by a business delegation of the Slovenian automotive cluster, which would like to deepen its cooperation with Korean partners, who are global leaders in car production.

On the sidelines of the visit, a Slovenian-Korean commission set up under the 2014 agreement on economic and trade cooperation will hold its maiden session.

Trade between Slovenia and South Korea topped EUR 426m in 2013, of which Slovenia's exports to Korea stood at EUR 40m and imports at EUR 386m.

At his last big news conference dedicated to Slovenia's foreign policy in December, Foreign Minister Erjavec announced he would visit South Korea, Japan and China with business delegations in 2015.

He said the Asian countries had showed "a great interest in economic cooperation with Slovenia".
