The castle will go green from 12 to 17 March while the Philharmonics building in Kongresni trg square will shine green on Thursday to coincide with a concert of Irish music and dance.

The concert, hosted by the Irish Embassy, will feature Slovenian musical groups playing Irish music and dancers from the Ljubljana School of Irish dancing.

The greening of landmarks is a part of Tourism Ireland's Global Greening Initiative, which sees cities all over the world light up their most prominent landmarks in green on St Patrick's Day.
