In the Brazilian capital, Erjavec will meet his counterpart Mauro Vieira and Vice President of Brazil Michel Temer. The FM will also travel to Sao Paulo, where he will be received by vice-governor of the State of Sao Paulo Marcio Franca.

The purpose of the visit to Brazil, by far the largest and most powerful nation of Latin America and one of the fastest growing economies, is to boost political dialogue and economic cooperation.

Brazil is the most important trade partner of Slovenia in Latin America and the Caribbean, the Foreign Ministry said, adding that several business-related events will take place as part of the visit to Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.

Erjavec will attend the signing of the statute of the Slovenian-Brazilian chamber of commerce and open a meeting between the ZITex association for ICT at the Slovenian Chamber of Commerce (GZS) and the related Brazilian association Brassco.

The meeting will take place at the seat of the Federation of Industries of the State of Sao Paulo (FIESP), where Erjavec will also meet the FIESP vice-president.

In Rio de Janeiro, the Slovenian FM will meanwhile meet high representatives of the State of Rio de Janeiro and the Federation of Industries of the State of Rio de Janeiro (FIRJAN).

Erjavec will then travel to the Peruvian capital of Lima, where he will meet Foreign Minister Gonzalo Gutierrez, Prime Minister Ana Jara and Minister of Energy and Mines Rosa Maria Ortiz. The visit to Peru will also focus on economic cooperation.
