"The arena has been set up. Competitors have had their first trainings and they say that everything is ready," Miran Fišer, the head of the organising committee, has told the press. This will be the 11th World Cup in Slovenia and third in Ljubljana.

Slovenians, who are headlined by pommel horse specialist Sašo Bertoncelj, are aiming high, with coaches expecting finals in at least three disciplines for women and in all disciplines for men. But this will not be easy as the competition will be fierce.

"This is a special moment, experience, extra motivation, additional stress. On the one hand it is best to compete at home, I always eagerly await home competitions, and on the other hand it is hardest to compete at home, because you want to show what you can do," said Bertoncelj.

The Stožice Arena will host some major names in the world of gymnastics, including Olympic champion in the horizontal bar Epke Zonderland, Yuri Van Gelder (nicknamed "Lord of the Rings"), 2001 world champion in the floor exercise Daniele Hypolito and many others.

The spectacle will start with Friday's qualifications, while finals are scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, each day starting at 1:30 PM.

The Krim sports hall in Ljubljana will meanwhile host an international rhythmic gymnastics tournament on Saturday and Sunday.

The tournament will feature more than 100 competitors from 12 countries and will see all best Slovenian gymnasts perform, headlined by Špela Kratochwill.
