The meeting will open in Ljubljana with an address by Foreign Minister Karl Erjavec. The debates will continue in Nova Gorica on Wednesday, where the attaches will meet business officials, the Foreign Ministry said.

According to the ministry, the meeting is intended to be a forum for improving the work of attaches and getting them in contact with Slovenian companies requiring diplomatic assistance in efforts to break on to new markets.

Economic diplomacy has been given a central role in foreign policy in recent years and also features heavily in the new foreign policy strategy that the government is drafting.
