The pair exchanged views ahead of the June EU summit dedicated to security and defence, and also talked about Slovenia's participation in EDA projects.

According to a joint press releases from the Defence Ministry and the EDA, Slovenia sees a central role of EDA in "coordinating, supporting and promoting cooperative defence projects, and expect added value in better implementing proposals to enhance capability development."

Bizjak said that Slovenia welcomes the discussions ahead of the EU summit on defence, adding that it is of vital importance that "smaller industries and entities have better access to the European defence market."

Domecq said that a way to support Slovenia, its defence industry and SMEs is in facilitating access to markets in Europe through EU funding and market information, which will also be discussed by the heads of state and government in June.

Domecq's visit also included meetings with other top officials of the Defence Ministry and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry. It is part of a series of visits to all EDA member states following his appointment as the EDA chief executive in February.
