Slovenia Seeking Return of Artworks from Serbia

Nekategorizirano

Slovenia's high representative for succession, Ana Polak Petrič, handed the list to Serbian Ambassador to Slovenia Aleksandar Radovanović, the Foreign Ministry said Friday.

The list contains pieces held by the former Yugoslav federal institutions which Slovenia believes it is entitled to. It has been compiled in cooperation with the Culture Ministry and the National Gallery.

The artworks in question include works by painting greats such as Ivana Kobilica, Rihard Jakopič, Matija Jama and Ivan Grohar, as well as Slovenian films and artefacts held by the postal, rail and war museums.

Slovenia has proposed that art experts from both sides meet as soon possible to discuss the list, which Slovenia may yet amend based on any subsequent findings.
