Previously, Koloini was head of dance and theatre programmes at one of the country's top cultural institutions, Cankarjev dom, and artistic director at the Slovenian-minority theatre in the Italian city of Trieste.

Koloini will promote an expressive, aesthetically propulsive and socially charged theatre programme. While the upcoming season will mostly remain as designed by de Brea, Koloini will make an effort to include more contemporary works and author projects.

"I'm starting my job at the SNG Drama Maribor fully aware of the significance of the theatre house and with all the responsibility due to the institution," Koloini has recently told the STA.

Diego de Brea is meanwhile leaving only two years after he has been appointed. As he told the daily Delo's Saturday supplement Sobotna priloga, he realised he was not just "the right person for the job".
