EU Embassies' Open House Day is a part of the European Month of Culture in Washington, which is organised by all 28 EU member states in cooperation with local cultural institutions (Kennedy Center, Library of Congress, New York University and Phillips Collection).

As part of Saturday's event, the Slovenian Embassy prepared an extensive programme, including performances by accordionist Marko Hatlak, an exhibition of illustrations by Irena Silić and Saša Kerkoš and a presentation of traditional dishes from the Ljubljana area.

Also participating were representatives of Slovenian associations, organisations and communities from the US, including the Slovenian Union of America, and the Slovene National Benefit Society, the biggest association of Slovenians in the US.

American members of the twin cities of Bethlehem (US) and Murska Sobota (Slovenia) presented the prekmurska gibanica cake, while visitors could also taste wines from the Goriška Brda region and Slovenian vodka.

As part of the European Month of Culture in Washington, Slovenia will also be represented by industrial music band Laibach, documentary "Kaj pa Mojca?" by Urša Menart, a panel debate with director of photography Darko Herič and an exhibition by sculptor David Vertačnik, a professor at the Kansas City University.
