Cumulative net profit surged 138% to over EUR 887m, as almost two-thirds of all companies ended the year with a profit.

Revenue rose almost 5% to EUR 79.5bn, with domestic sales up 3% and foreign sales rising by 7%.

The overall improvement was largely driven by major corporations. Small and medium-sized firms also recovered, while micro companies posted even higher losses than in the year before.

The data, released on Wednesday, is based on reports that companies are required to submit to AJPES for statistical and disclosure purposes.

A total of 63,590 companies reported, up 4% over the year before, as the number of companies founded exceeded the number of those that were wound down.

The data excludes banks and insurance companies as well as the Slovenian Sovereign Holding and the Bank Asset Management Company.
