The fourth annual event dedicated to expanding what are still limited Slovenian ties with Africa will focus on development cooperation in the framework of the UN's Post-2015 Development Agenda and the European Year of Development in 2015, the Foreign Ministry said.

Slovenian officials will be joined by participants from Africa and the EU to debate progress in development cooperation and the workings of the African Union and its cooperation with the EU.

Another topic of debate as part of three panels on the first day will be the role of the African community in Slovenia.

The second day will be dedicated to the potential for expanding business ties with Africa, with special focus on Egypt, Tunisia, South Africa and Uganda.

Speaker of the Ugandan Parliament Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga is scheduled to visit Slovenia for the conference. On the margins of the event, Kadaga is to hold meetings with senior Slovenian officials, including her counterpart Milan Brglez.

Brglez and Kadaga will be the keynote speakers at Tuesday's opening of the conference.

The event has been organised by the Foreign Ministry in association with the International Centre for Promotion of Enterprises, the Club of Former Slovenian Ambassadors, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the African Forum of Slovenia.
