What was a small family company with four employees in 1989, when it was established, has since grown into a medium-sized retailer employing some 400 people and covering mostly eastern parts of the country.

In the last ten years Jager has been placed among fast growing companies, so-called gazelles. "There is no recipe for success, we just work prudently," the company said.

The retailer will open a new shop in Odranci in the summer and in Ljutomer by the end of the year, to add to its existing network of 30-odd outlets.

While the company cooperates well with banks, it said that it practically did not need any loans due to a conservative expansion policy. It has less than EUR 1.3m in liabilities related to investments.
