Slovenian Co-Production Awarded at Cannes Festival

Directed and scripted by Dallibor Matanić, the film tells three love stories taking place in three different decades in neighbouring Balkan villages marred by war.

The first story takes place in 1991, as the former Yugoslavia braces for war. The second story is placed in 2001, when the memory of the war and national tensions are still too strong for the lovers to make it work. The third story is set in 2011, when lovers can finally break free of the past.

The Prix du Un Certain Regard, the main award in the section designed to honour promising film makers, went to "Rams", an Icelandic film directed by Grimur Hakonarson.
