Möderndorfer's film centres on a young working-class family and their everyday struggle for survival. Like any other ordinary European family, the family want to live off their work but find themselves in a blind ally due to the global crisis.

The cast includes big names of Slovenian film such as Jernej Šugman and Sebastian Cavazza.

Inferno has toured several festivals already and it is to be screened at the international film festival in Edinburgh and in the Philippines this month.

The Brooklyn festival, which was held between 29 May and 7 June, is all about promoting independent cinematography. The festival brings artistic excellence and presents creative freedom without censorship. The Spirit Awards are conferred to films that best reflect this, the Slovenian Film Centre said in a press release.
