Acclaimed Composer Dun to Open Ljubljana Festival
Dun will conduct the Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra and the Orchestra of Fondazione Teatro Lirico Giuseppe Verdi Trieste as they perform music he composed for the films "Hero", "The Banquet" and "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon".
The open air event held at the Congress Square will be divided into three concerts, each dedicated to the individual film, while the final, fourth concert - The Triple Resurrection for Violin - will also feature a film.
At today's press conference Dun invited young film makers to submit short films with the themes of resurrection, hope and love.
Dun has received a number of awards for his work. The score he wrote for "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" brought him an Oscar, a Grammy and a Bafta award.
The acclaimed artist will be in good company, as the three-month festival will also feature renowned Polish composer/conductor Krzysztof Penderecki and artists from the Mariinsky Theatre from Saint Petersburg and the Chinese National Opera House from Beijing, among others.
The festival will also feature 2Cellos, a Slovenian-Croatian cello duo that became a YouTube sensation and is now playing concerts with Sir Elton John.
