The Velenje International meeting, which is a part of the European Athletics (EA) tour, will feature around 200 athletes from 25 countries competing at the Velenje City Stadium.

Slovenia's biggest hope is javelin thrower Martina Ratej, who was second overall in the 2014 IAAF Diamond League final.

In addition to the reigning Olympic, world and European champion in discus throw Sandra Perković of Croatia, the meeting will feature double Olympic champion in shot put Tomasz Majewski of Poland.

The EUR 100,000 competition in Velenje will also be an opportunity for Slovenian athletes to secure the very strict norms for 2015 World Athletics Championships in Beijing.
