The overall ranking in class 470 of the open European Championships is somewhat different - the first place went to Alleh/Powrie of New Zealand (19), Macarol/Mrak were second, while the third place went to Heager/Prvaancha of the US (49 points).

This is Macarol's and Mrak's second European Championships podium - they were third last year in Athens.

"We knew we have to be good today, as we had a shot at gold," Mrak said after the final regatta.

"The entire week was very demanding due to changing weather conditions. The first three days the wind blew off the coast, constantly changing direction and velocity."

"And the last three days, the direction of the wind changed, it blew from the sea. The conditions were different, demanding, but we did well and managed to stay at the front," said Mrak.
