Rok Biček's debut won the audience choice award at the popular Czech film festival over Celine Sciamma's "Bande des Filles" (Girlhood) and Pawel Pawlikowski's "Ida".

The latter won the LUX Prize 2014 that is given out by the European Parliament.

Class Enemy recounts a story about growing tension between a group of secondary school students and their new German language teacher after one of their schoolmates commits suicide.

The film has already won several awards, including best film at the International Film Critics' Week in Venice last year, and was Slovenia's candidate for an Academy Award nomination for Best Foreign Language Film.

The Karlovy Vary festival also revealed the list of 2015 LUX Prize nominees, which includes the Slovenian-Croatian-Serbian production "Zvizdan" (The High Sun) by Dalibor Matanić.

The High Sun portrays three love stories in two neighbouring Balkan villages burdened by a long history of inter-ethnic hatred. "This is a film about the dangers - and the enduring strength - of forbidden love," the LUX Prize website says about the film.

The three short listed candidates for the 2015 LUX Prize will be announced on 24 July in Rome, while the winner will chosen by MEPs in December.

Free screenings of the nominated films will be organised in at least three locations around Slovenia shortly.

The LUX Prize was established in 2007 to support the European film industry. LUX Prize film days are organised across all EU members, with the finalists translated into all EU official languages.
