Conference to Tackle Fiscal Oversight Challenges

Nekategorizirano

Challenges in Establishing Fiscal Policy Surveillance will be organised by the government's macroeconomic forecaster IMAD and the European Commission Representation in Slovenia.

The focus will be on independent fiscal institutions and their increasing role in fiscal policy surveillance within the framework for enhanced coordination of fiscal policies in the EU.

While some countries have had such independent bodies for a long time, Slovenia is expected to get an independent Fiscal Council under a forthcoming law implementing the Constitutional balanced-budget rule.

The main panel will feature Finance Minister Dušan Mramor along with two of his predecessors, Janez Šušteršič and Mitja Gaspari, as well as IMAD director Boštjan Vasle and Istvan P. Szekely, director of the European Commission's directorate for economic and financial affairs.
