Road cargo vehicles generated 4.4 billion tonne kilometres in the first quarter of 2015, which is 18% more than in the same period last year, the Statistics Office said on Wednesday.

In Slovenia only, road cargo vehicles transported 9.2 million tonnes of goods and generated 502 million tonne kilometres, which is up 2% and 23% year-on-year, respectively.

Cargo trains meanwhile transported around 4.3 million tonnes of goods in the first quarter, on par with last year's figures. Tonne kilometres were up by 3% to 1.02 million.
