Ministry Approves EUR 5.7M for Kanin Ski Slopes

The decision was announced by the Government Communication Office after the cabinet was notified of it at Thursday's session.

The ministry announced earlier this year its intention to support the revival of the Kanin slopes if the municipality acquired the ski lifts infrastructure.

The cable car connecting Bovec with the Kanin slopes and the ski lifts on the slopes had been transferred to the municipality for free earlier this year from the main creditor of the former ski resort operator.

In exchange, the municipality covered the costs of the receivership of ATC Kanin connected with the ski lifts in the amount of EUR 170,000.

Bovec hopes to get the ski lifts ready for the coming winter.

The slopes have been closed since a 2012 accident in which two empty gondolas were plunged to the ground by gusts of wind.
