In Ljubljana, temperatures climbed over 30 degrees 19 times in the first 22 days of the month, according to the agency, which expects at least three more days with similarly high temperatures this month.

The previous record, 18 days, was recorded in July 2006, when average air temperature in Ljubljana was at 23.6 degrees. Interestingly, August temperatures in the capital never exceed 30 degrees that year.

Record number of days with temperatures above 30 degrees are expected all across the country, according to the agency.

The heat was accompanies only by a few storms, which has left the ground very dry. The smallest amount of rain was recorded on the coast - only a few millimetres of rain since the beginning of the month.
