The contract must be confirmed by the board of creditors of the maker of adhesives and paper products before it can be signed, said Gril.

The receiver welcomed the offer from AMC, who had been a key competitor of Aero prior to the company's collapse earlier this year, adding that it has expressed interest in eventually buying the plant.

The lease is a temporary solution for the creditors pending the first attempt to sell off the plant in an auction, which is scheduled for the autumn.

She would not disclose how much AMC had offered for the lease. The starting price had been set at EUR 30,000 per month.

Gril was also tight-lipped about the German company's plans for the plant. She has previously assessed that the relaunch of operations at the plant could result in jobs for around 50 people.

The company had employed over 40 workers when it entered receivership in April, days after reporting a EUR 7.7m net loss for 2014.

Aero had been included on the list of 15 companies slated by Slovenia for privatisation in 2013.
